Suffering 101: The Story Of Job
Course Introduction & Expected Outcomes
Suffering has a way of pulling the deepest questions out of us—questions about God, justice, purpose, and pain. In Suffering 101: The Story of Job, we’re not looking for easy answers. We’re stepping into one of the most honest, complex, and sacred books in all of Scripture—a story where faith is tested, friends fall short, God speaks from a storm, and hope refuses to die.
This course is for anyone who’s ever asked, “Why me?” or “Where is God?” or “What do I do with pain that doesn’t make sense?” Through Job’s journey, we’ll explore what it means to lament without losing faith, to wrestle without walking away, and to worship when you’re still waiting for restoration.
By the end of this course, you will:
Understand the literary structure and theological purpose of the Book of Job
Learn to distinguish between retributive justice and redemptive suffering
Engage with biblical lament as a form of spiritual honesty and resilience
Reflect on God’s sovereignty through the imagery of creation, Behemoth, and Leviathan
Discover the role of friends, silence, and speech in the journey of suffering
Develop a richer, deeper, more honest faith that can withstand mystery
Walk away not with tidy answers—but with a clearer vision of the God who meets us in the whirlwind
This isn’t just a study about Job.
It’s about you.
And the God who is still speaking—sometimes through storms, always through grace.
